Children’s who are exposure to violence has many traumas that goes trough adult age. It’s a complex subject because there are many terrible cases that is involve since the parent’s childhood to the Department of Children and Family Services. I remember two documentaries about CSA (Children sexual abuse). The trials of Gabriel Fernandes (2020) and Rewind (2019).
The documentary, “The trials of Gabriel Fernandes” is a terrible story where their Gabriel’s parents abused, he the most terrible way that we imagine. Unfortunately, Gabriel died after several abuse. We can see in this documentary about his mother. She is a children survivor from many abuses by different people. She has severe PTSD and others psychosomatics problems. It’s not an excuse to commit this crime, but we can to see the terrible consequences when the children are victims of abuse and violence. The DCFS (Department of Children and Family Service) of Los Angeles, was complety negligent include social workers.
Another is the Rewind. Sasha and his sister were abused for years for members of his family. The documentary shows us how the behavior of the children changes when he is with problems. They don’t know how ask for help. They try to show that they are in dangerous. In most of the cases, the children became extremely aggressive and quieted. One of the most terrible things in this documentary is that Sasha’s father was abuse when he was young for the same people that abused of Sasha, but this was o very deep secret because his family was a traditional Jewish orthodox family.
“At each developmental stage, parents’ abilities to attend to their child and to guide and support their child’s negotiation of new developmental tasks is essential. When parents physically, emotionally, or sexually abuse their children, the parents’ salience as a source of protection and support certainly is diminished” (Margolis, pg. 451). Children who is neglect, abuse and victim of violence needs of psychologic treatment. This situation is extremely traumatic and can influence generations of the family and the people who are around.
